Current workshops and webinars
For therapists and practitioners in September 2026
I am thrilled to be offering a one-off 90-minute clinical webinar on The Survival Cascade, introducing how I use this aspect of the attachment-informed lens in EMDR work, taking place on Saturday 5 September online on Zoom, from 9:30–11am UK for £35 (recording included).
This is for practitioners who want a clearer way of understanding what can happen when clients move into survival responses - both in the room with you and in their lives outside the therapy room - and how this can shape the therapeutic work.
In the webinar we’ll look at the cascade in its own right (flight, fight, freeze, flop, friend/fawn) - what it can reveal, and how it may support more thoughtful clinical understanding, case conceptualisation, treatment planning and attunement in the therapy room (in an EMDR context and more broadly). There will also be space to reflect on your own responses from the cascade, if that feels useful, as well as time for questions and discussion.

I have spent the past two years developing this clinical lens through direct practice, somatic work, ai-EMDR facilitation, neurological brain-body connection and meditation practices, as well as my own lived-experience understanding of the nervous system. Building on the exceptional foundation Mark has laid down in his ai-EMDR workshops, the Survival Cascade has become a map and shared language in the therapy room, offering my clients (and myself) not just understanding in session but a navigational framework they use in daily life.
I have been hearing the call in the psychotherapy and healing world for more embodied approaches and understanding to the work we do with clients, and equally (and more importantly for me) my own clients and colleagues have reflected that this way of explaining the cascade makes it feel clear, relatable, and usable rather than just theoretical, which is why I’m excited to be sharing it more widely now.
In their words:
“Your explanation of the survival cascade has always been the best explanation I've experienced, and [as a therapist] I've heard/read a lot over the years!!! You not only explain the cascade clearly, but also relatable and in the listener’s experience a workable experience/process and not just an ‘out there’ theory — this needs to be out there [in the world].”
“I used the approach you mentioned - to listen to the fight-or-flight feelings and energy I was experiencing and acknowledge them, rather than judging and worrying about my worrying, which I have done so many times previously. When I listened and accepted the anxiety and the hectic energy I felt, it then dissipated somewhat because I was just allowing it to happen and telling myself it was OK to feel this way in the moment. This was very powerful and another step forward for me in growing toward complete self acceptance, which is so healing for body-mind-spirit.”
If this feels useful, you’re very welcome to join and you can register via payment link here. Once registered, you will be sent the Zoom meeting ID and passcode via email within 48 hours.
I'd love to see you there!
Warmest,
Katharine
